streetcouture82: Cassette playa a.k.a Carrie mundane translates sound into design
Last month we did a little bio one of my favourite illustrators 'parra' ....continuing on that thread, let me introduce you to the savagery illustrator that is the cassette playa, a.k.a Carrie Mundane. Brittish born, University of Westminster graduate, fashion designer slash(/) stylist, has done outfitts and conceptualized video wardrobes for the likes of M.I.A ,Dizzie Rascall, Afrikan Boy, patrick Wolf, Klaxons, Ruff squad.......... and the list Carries on. (pun intended)
Carries work is distinct, u can't miss it, very bright colours, savagery ancient tribal insignias shamman and indian aztec like, animal paw print fused with skater fashion, japanese anime(manga), 90's rave, science and science fiction, forming an urban tribal look.... very raw, raw indeed, borderline scary if barbie prints are your thing,... which carrie is from far removed.
I got introduced to carries fashion through...... (here it comes).. sneakers! Having done a number of collabo's with nike, creating signature dunks, blazers, and varsity jackets for limited edition quickstrike releases, we've been lucky to have had some of her threads pass our way via nike's concept store, gallery on 4th ,....thank u thank u thank u . (may this passage continue to flow now and far into the morrow)
cassette playa is raw street and should not be triffled with, play on playette!

We did our second streetcouture look, some weeks ago. But i couldn't for the likes of me decypher what to call the shoot, it looked so familliar ..... then as if by some sort of devine intervention a re-run of back to the future 2, graced my tv set last week, and i was like 'that's it' it's marty in 2015 ..... only difference is the jeans aren't inside out, atleast not yet ...... may be in 20 15! .....................................................................................................marty mcfly 2015 and beyond is streetcouture!

streetcouture82: says: keep it fresh and Black Faffin!
We came across Black Faff on the streets of FB, and we like........ yes indeed we like!
Can't knock the hustle....keep it Faff!
Their style and t'shirt print is unlike any other currently in S.A's ever competitve t'shirt market. ....... Theirs, is a little darker, in the sense that, it's not overly colourful and bubble gummy, but rather more earnest and troublesome tinkering with a bad ass edge. They remind me of the crooks 'n castles brand, representing the misunderstood good guy with a bad attitude....... u know ...........a guy like wolverine from the x-men.
...........................................their items are available at the freshman store, Wits university campus.

streetcouture82: Thinks a-bathing-ape-bapeland-1st-anniversary-shark-collection is shark tooth razor sharp!
Rummaging through Highsnobiety, we came across this pic, of the upcoming A Bathing Ape bapeland 1st anniversary shark collection, needless to say, we like this stuff......a lot! It's absolutely insane!... Nigo and company are working double overtime.
I don't own a pair of of Bathing Ape sneakers or any of their apperal, anyone who knows their street fashion, especially when it comes to exclusive brands will know, getting your hands on authentic Bape products is quite a challenge, not just in S.A but the world over, and i aint no sucker, i don't do fakes!
I see a lot of Fapes (fake bathing apes) on jozi streets....... it's a fact, we don't have a lisenced authentic Bape distributor or retailer in the country, apperal or otherwise, it'a mission just to get on the A Bathing Ape website. ....... so word is, if u got your shooting star kicks from somewhere in the country, chances are they're fapes. ........do the fape test for yourself, ......"was your stuff purchased from one of Bapes 'busy work shop' outlets or from a listed retailer on the Bathing ape website"..... if the answer is no, get your money back asap!

streetcouture82: is in awe of the adidas stadium jacket!
Adidas and Undftd's James Bond have come together and manifested the David beckham range.
Not expecting any items from the range to reach our shores, imagine my surprise running smack dead bang into the much sort after Adidas david beckham Stadium jacket at Melrose Arch adidas originals.
It's truelly an awesome piece of high end street aesthetic, ....... fitted with a fine wool body, contrasting arms in ultra soft leather and finer detailing of three stripe tape branding inside the pockets, make the jacket subtle and in your face at the same time. when u first see it ....."u like dope jacket" and upon finding out it's an Adidas Undftd collaboration.... "u like: dammmn! ........'cause its not obvious. This jackets got that X-factor, ........definitley streetcouture.

streetcouture82: likes Nike 1st ever collabo with an S.A artist - Kronk ... > "bleed your colours"
Nikes 'bleed your colours' media launch took place at Gallery on 4th on monday evening. This in all respect was a historical event, as it marked nikes first ever collaboration with a South African artist.
Kronk, whom is the artist the honour has been bestowed upon had a buisy night filling in the media on the concept and direction of his works. If your not new to Gallery on 4th, you'll remember some of kronks work being exhibited at the very same loaction when it was launched all of 3 yrs ago. ..... Big up to kronk and Nike on this artistic undertaking, looking forward to many more.

Streetcouture82.....thinks Parra Rocks!
Parra was the best kept secret of Amsterdams underground art scene, but since collaborating with the big boys (nike, zoo york, stones throw, ben and jerry, etc) his anonimity, well......has become, not so anonymous, actually dude man is quite huge in underground street trends, all his collaboration are very very sort after fashion commodities and collectors items.
Growing up with a father who was a sculptor and painter, parra grew in an enviroment with a spectrum full of colours and then sum, apart from hip-hop and skating in the early 90's as credits for his inspiration, i'm sure his early childhood also played a significant role. A lot of Parra works could be mistaken for posters of the 60's and 70's with a little toungue and cheek quirky humour.
Every year Parra takes on a few commercial jobs, he reserves most of his arts in the form of posters, flyers and logos for friends, family and fans alike to use as thier like, which makes him a firm favourite amongst purist. He also spends time on his own clothing label Parra's Rockwell with stockist in london,Tokyo, berlin and New York.
